Which type of <strong>polyester enclosure<\/strong> should you opt for, depending on the actual installation environment? <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In practice, it is not a question of choosing between two solutions, but of striking the right balance between IP rating, thermal management, condensation control and corrosion resistance. A highly watertight enclosure is not always sufficient to protect equipment if heat and humidity are poorly managed. The protection rating remains a key criterion for assessing an enclosure\u2019s resistance to solid objects (dust) and liquids (water, splashes, immersion), in accordance with the I<a href=\"https:\/\/www.iec.ch\/ip-ratings\">EC\u2019s definitions of IP ratings.<\/a> <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But in the field, an outdoor cabinet is exposed to much more than just rain: solar radiation, day-to-night temperature fluctuations, humidity, corrosive atmospheres and pollution. Under these conditions, an enclosure that is too airtight can trap internal moisture and encourage condensation, compromising the reliability of the components. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The right choice is therefore not simply a matter of \u2018increasing the IP rating\u2019, but of considering the system as a whole: the type of enclosure, the IP rating, air exchange, exposure, heat dissipation, humidity and temperature control options.<\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:17px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">When to choose a waterproof polyester cabinet <\/h2>\n\n<div style=\"height:17px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A weatherproof electrical enclosure made of glass-fibre-reinforced polyester is particularly suitable when the installation is exposed to:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Dust or fine particles (crushing plants, urban environments, road maintenance).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Splashes of water, high-pressure jets or frequent washing.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Damp environments (pumping stations, water treatment plants).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Corrosive or chemically aggressive environments (petrochemicals, chemicals, coastal areas).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Harsh outdoor environments (infrastructure, urban networks, renewable energy).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is typically the case:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>An IP65 control cabinet at a wastewater treatment plant or a chemical plant.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A polyester cabinet for a pumping station by the sea.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An outdoor industrial electrical cabinet at a petrochemical site with corrosive mists.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In these applications, the priority is to provide long-lasting protection for components against moisture ingress and corrosion.
