Contexte

A highly constrained railway environment

Europoly was commissioned by an international company specialising in the installation of disconnectors and switches for trams and underground railways to design a reinforced polyester enclosure for a railway application in Malaysia. The enclosure had to blend into the railway environment whilst meeting requirements regarding accessibility, mechanical rigidity and weight.

A large-sized isolator for installation

The client required a polyester enclosure for a tramway disconnector, capable of housing a large disconnector whilst providing full access for installation, inspection and maintenance. The project required access from three sides via five doors, the addition of a side polyester enclosure, a reinforced four-pitched roof and a structure designed to support heavy loads without adding unnecessary weight to the assembly, whilst remaining suitable for export and mass production.

The polyester enclosure for the tramway disconnector was required to accommodate a large disconnector for a tram network, provide full accessibility and ensure high mechanical strength, whilst remaining suitable for mass production for an international client.

Solution

The solution developed by Europoly

Europoly’s export sales team and design office analysed the client’s specifications and then designed a polyester enclosure for a tramway disconnector, using tooling and moulds manufactured in-house. The solution features access from three sides via five doors, a reinforced four-sloped roof and a side polyester enclosure, whilst reinforcing the overall structure without increasing the total weight.
